Downey, California

Learn to fight.
Learn to breathe.

Ocho is a Muay Thai gym in Downey with yoga on the same schedule. You get coached from your first round, whether you have never worn gloves or you already train.

Who trains here

Two ways to train, one gym

Ocho runs striking classes for adults and kids, and yoga classes for anyone who wants to move well and recover from hard rounds. Train one side, or use both.

Muay Thai

The art of eight limbs

Fists, elbows, knees and shins. You start with stance and guard, work the bags, then drill on the pads with a coach calling corrections. No one gets thrown into sparring.

Yoga

Mobility that holds up

Vinyasa flow and slower recovery classes, taught for the hips, ankles and shoulders that striking asks the most of. Mats and blocks are here, so bring only water.

Questions

Before your first class

Do I need experience to start Muay Thai?
No. Fundamentals classes are built for people who have never thrown a kick. You learn stance and guard first, and a coach corrects you round by round.
What should I bring to my first class?
Athletic clothes, water, and a towel. We have gloves you can borrow for your first few classes. For yoga, mats and blocks are here for you to use.
Do you offer yoga as well as martial arts?
Yes. Vinyasa and recovery yoga run on the same weekly schedule as striking classes, and you can train one, the other, or both.
Is there a class for my kid?
Youth Muay Thai covers ages 6 to 13 in a 45 minute class with structured rounds, clear rules and no full-contact work.
